Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 as the 901, the car was renamed 911 after Peugeot objected to the use of a zero in the middle of a model number. Its rear-mounted flat-six and Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche’s timeless fastback shape founded a dynasty that is still going strong six decades later.
