Porsche 924 - Transaxle Legacy

Porsche 924 - Transaxle Legacy

A New Chapter for a Porsche Classic

The Porsche 924 marked a pivotal moment in the brand’s history. Originally introduced in 1976, the 924 was Porsche’s first production model with a front-engine, rear-transaxle layout, offering near-perfect weight distribution and handling that redefined the sports coupe experience.

While purists hesitated at first, the 924 proved that Porsche could balance engineering precision with real-world usability. Today, its timeless silhouette and minimalist design have cemented it as a cult favorite among classic Porsche enthusiasts.

From the Base 924 to the Turbocharged Revolution

The original Porsche 924 (Base) featured a 2.0L inline-four engine, delivering efficiency and agility all within a beautifully balanced chassis. It was light, engaging, and elegant in its simplicity. Making the 924 a perfect introduction to the Porsche experience.

Then came the 924 Turbo in 1979, adding forced induction and transforming the car into a genuine performance machine. With up to 170 horsepower and distinctive NACA ducts on its hood, the Turbo variant brought Le Mans-inspired engineering to the road.

By 1986, Porsche unveiled the 924 S, equipped with the 944’s 2.5L engine. The 924 S has the perfect blend of refinement and performance.
